Terms & Conditions


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.      Fees are paid in advance on a per term basis. For existing pupils please note that in order to hold your place your application form and fees have to be presented by the closing date. If you are late your place will not be held.

2.      Child/ren who miss class/es will not be able to make them up.

3.    Discounted prices are only available if classes are paid in advance by the appropriate date.

4.      If for any unforeseen circumstances arise causing a class to be cancelled or the venue to be changed, a suitable alternative class will be arranged at the School’s (ie. Deborah Jayne School of Dance and Theatre) discretion and no refunds will be given.

5.      A 10% discount on fees is offered to families whose siblings attend the School or if children go to two or more classes. Please discount per child. (Does not include after school club)

6.      There will be no refunds under any circumstances.

7.      Half a term’s written notice or payment in lieu is required if you wish to withdraw your child/ren from classes from the School.

8.      Neither the School nor the hall will be liable for the loss or damage of any property belonging to pupils.

9.      Please inform the teacher of any injuries before class begins. If your child has any allergies or is on medication, please inform the teacher.

10.   Children should arrive promptly, correctly dressed and attend classes regularly.

11.   During class children are expected to listen and we discourage unnecessary talking. If a child causes disruption, s/he will be asked to leave the lesson.

12.   As is the case in any dance class physical contact from the teachers with pupils is an essential part of the lesson to rectify posture.

13.   Parents and guardians of children under the age of five are requested to remain close by in case they are needed during the class.

14.   Children under the age of ten years old are not allowed to leave the hall unless accompanied by an adult.

15.   Only once the required standard is attained will students be put forward for examinations.

16.   Examinations are not applicable to all pupils; the School reserves the right to enter and/or withdraw pupils at its discretion at any stage.

17.   The School reserves the right to change fees or timetables.

18.   No food or drink should be taken into a class.

19.   If your child/ren cannot attend class, please call or email to let the Principal know.

20.   Due to the wide range of genres taught and music required Teachers may be required to use their phone as a music source. If this is the case, the camera element of the phone will be covered to ensure the safeguarding of your child.

21.   Photographs maybe taken of your child/ren participating in class; this is for the School’s purpose only. Photographs that include your child/ren maybe displayed on the website, emails, or promotional material from time to time. If you do not want your child/ren included on the website, emails, or promotional material or to have their photograph taken, please put this in writing to Miss. Debbie.

22. Summer School and other workshops should be paid for in advance. No refunds will be given if your child has Covid or other illnesses. To gain the early bird rate you must pay by the deadline given. Failure not to pay will incur a 20% late fee charge on top of the none early bird rate.

23. The school charges a one off £20.00 registration fee. This is a deposit and holds your child’s place. This will be returned if you wish to withdraw your child from the school. Please note as the terms and conditions state a half terms notice in lieu must be given in writing if your wish to withdraw your child from classes. Failure to do so will mean you will lose your deposit/registration fee. (This does not apply to after school clubs)

24 The school will add a 10% late payment charge to any outstanding invoices and will be added to invoices after the deadline.

Updates to Terms and Conditions 

Six new clauses will be added to our Terms and Conditions, your payment of fees for Autumn Term classes will confirm your acceptance of them

1. No refund will be provided in the instances below, however, in the event of (i), (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) a live Zoom class will be provided instead.

  (i) A student within your "bubble" has a suspected/confirmed case of Covid-19 (or any other infectious disease) and it becomes necessary for the whole "bubble" to isolate and therefore classes do not operate

  (ii) Classes have to be cancelled due to a teacher needing to self-isolate and Deborah Jayne School of Dance & Theatre is unable to find a suitable cover teacher

  (iii) A student is unable to attend a class because they are required to self-isolate

  (iv) A student arrives more than five minutes after the start of a class and is therefore not allowed into the building.

(v) The school has no choice but to close due government's decision to a lockdown. Zoom classes will take place.

2.Deborah Jayne School of Dance and Theatre cannot be held liable for anyone who has attended the studio premises contracting Covid-19 (or any other infectious disease)

3. If a student has a suspected/confirmed case of Covid-19 (or any other infectious disease) then you agree to inform us immediately to enable us to inform the rest of the "bubble" (as per government test and trace strategy) if a student has a suspected/confirmed case of Covid-19 (or any other infectious disease) then you agree to inform us immediately to enable us to inform the rest of the "bubble" (as per government test and trace strategy)

4. Where The child, young person, or staff member test positive, NHS Test and Trace will speak directly to those they have been in contact with to offer advice. This advice may be that the setting should be sent home and advised to self - isolate for 14 days. As part of the national test and trace programme, if other cases are detected within the class or group or wider setting, Public Health England's local health protection teams will conduct a rapid investigation and will advise on the most appropriate action to take. In some cases, many other children and young people may be asked to self - isolate at home as a precautionary measure - perhaps the whole class, group, or site. Where settings are observing guidance on prevention and control, which will reduce risk of transmission, closure of the whole setting will not generally be necessary. 

5. Any families that have visited a country that is on the quarantined list will not be able to attend the school until they have completed their isolation period. 

Reporting of Symptoms

 It is vital that parents and staff play their part in helping to reduce the spread of the virus, by reporting to us if they display symptoms of coronavirus. If you, or your child presents a high temperature or a new persistent continuous cough, loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, sore throat or cold symptoms, you must not attend class and self-isolate for 10 days. Check with NHS 111 to see if your symptoms match that of coronavirus and get tested. You must also report symptoms to us so that we can inform others whom you or your child may have been in contact with to self-isolate. If you feel unwell, Stay at home. Do not come to class. Take part online. If your child and any other family member have been tested and the test is negative then your child can return 48 hrs after result, pending if everyone is not displaying any further symptoms. 

Although this is voluntary the school encourages parents and children to share their details in order to support NHS Test and Trace system. Please note parents information will only be used where necessary to help stop the spread of COVID - 19. If a parent does not wish for their details to be shared to please put this in writing to Miss Debbie.
